FEBRUARY 2002 SCHEDULE
Friday,
Feb. 1,
9 a.m. Huckleberry Hills, Avon [Cancelled due to
cold rain.]
Meet in the
parking lot on the west side of the Unionville Stop & Shop, or at 9:15
at the old school on Huckleberry Hill Road south of Lofgren Rd. We should be back to the cars
before noon. Leader: Diana Meyer

Tuesday,
Feb. 5, 9 a.m., Sweetheart Mountain, Canton
Meet in the parking lot in Collinsville where the rails-for-trails
enters. This lot is on Front St. near the town hall and an old factory
building. We should return to the cars by 11:30AM. Lunch at
Lasalle Market could be an after hike option. Leader: Marie

Feb. 8, 9 a.m. Unionville Walk
Meet in the parking lot on the west side of the Unionville Stop & Shop.
Route will include Suburban Park, the old railroad line, and Moses Brook.
We should be back to the cars around 11:30. Leader: Diana

Tuesday,
Feb. 12, 8:45 a.m., McLean- Western Section
Meet in the parking lot between Walgreens and Borders at Simsbury
Commons. Anticipate a 12 Noon return time. We will try some trails
that looked interesting the last time we hiked here, so this should be an
adventure. Leader: Marie Coons

Feb. 15,
9 a.m. Peoples State Forest, Barkhamsted
Meet in the Dunkin' Doughnuts/Marandino's Market parking lot on Rt. 44
just north of the Canton/New Hartford line. Specific trail(s) to be
determined that day. We should be back to the cars around noon. Leader: Diana Meyer

Feb. 19, 8:45 a.m.,
Enders State Forest
Meet at Borders at Simsbury Commons and we will car pool to this beautiful
wilderness. Anticipate a 12:30 PM return time. Again, our GPS will
be useful during this adventure. Leader: Marie

Feb. 22,
9 a.m. Tunxis Red-dot Trail, Burlington
Meet on Ryan's Way, which is about a mile south of Rt. 4 off Punch Brook
Rd. Will probably go to Perry's Lookout and/or the purple-dot Tunxis
Trail, depending on the conditions. We should be back to the cars
around noon. Leader: Diana Meyer

Sat.,
Feb. 23, 10:30 a.m. Sierra Club "Dog Hike III"
Back by popular demand! Two hour ramble at a to-be-decided scenic location
in the Manchester/Vernon area. Membership not required.
Call for location details. Friendly dogs on a leash are obviously
welcome. (Bring plastic bags also.) Rain/icy conditions cancel.

Canton Land Conservation Trail
Meet at Borders and we will car pool to this hike also. I am not sure
which trail, but I am thinking about the new Ray Smith Trail. We should be
back to the cars about 11:30 AM. Leader: Marie
