MISSION: "The purpose of the Burlington Library Association, Inc. [also known
as Friends of the Library] shall be to plan,
develop and conduct such programs as will support a free public library and
designed to promote the library and premises as a center for civic and cultural

Spring Used Book
BIRD SALE: Members & Region 10 faculty get in
free. All others $5, or may become a member at the door.
This was the first year Region 10 faculty and staff was
admission to the book sale on Thursday along with BLA members.
The total amount raised by the sale was $1653.

to sign up. We could really use your
behalf of the "Friends of the Library", I'd like to thank the
below 26 cake bakers, pie bakers, cookie and bar and candy and fudge
makers, whose delicious and creative contributions to this sale brought in
$700 for our library from 102 yummy items! I'm delighted.! Congratulations
at left are Pat Small, Len Berton and me as we prepared to welcome our

Saturday, December 8,
2012 10am - 4pm, Good-as-New
were many books in excellent condition from which to choose. The
collection included hardcover and paperbacks for children and adults.
The Good As
New Holiday Book Sale, held on Saturday December 8, 2012, was a success
because of our dedicated volunteers and wonderful donations from the
community. The total proceeds were over $600.
A big thanks to
the following volunteers:
> Elaine Eberhard for coming up with this idea last year and working all
year setting aside the books for this sale and keeping the cart upstairs
well stock with good reads.

The Friends wish to thank the

Thanks to your continued dedication and
kindness, this event is always successful!
The annual autumn blue-ribbon pie sale was a
sweet success; a VERY SWEET SUCCESS!! 34 dedicated bakers made 98 pies which
brought in (hold onto your hats!) $1062.50! That's just over $230 more than
last October's sale!

Friends of Connecticut Libraries select our own Sandy Mazeau for their 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award
Held the 2009 Annual Meeting in May featuring BLUES 101 with Dan Stevens.
The Spring '09 book sale raised $1,802 + $85 from the Cart, and the Fall sale did $2001 (+ cart $86).
Spring '08 was $2735, and Fall '08 raised $1776!
Volunteer Recognition: May 13, 2009 & June 13, 2007. Parties were held to thank our volunteers for their service.
The book cart brigade marched in the Bicentennial Parade
Contributions for 2008 came to $16640, while 2007 totaled $17740.
Sponsored Sonny and Perley's A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald concert and their Romance show
Presented a Celtic program with Tara's Thistle
Parker Trust grants funded the Music Corner and in 2005, a $3000 grant purchased a new network server
Helped fund the Toddler's Busy Bay
Each of the 30 members of the Birthday Book Club has chosen & purchased a book for the children's room
Founded the Books for Babies program
Donated funds for three new computers, plus a new computer table for the Apple PC in the children's room
Raised $6455 from the concert, book & bake sales Click for results & pictures.
Donated funds to the children's room to purchase new toddler’s board books
Purchased 26 new LeapPad special electronic "books"
Purchased over $4500 of CD audio books & print material
Sponsored the third annual Fireside Reading program (view pictures)
Sold nearly $700 of the Images of America Burlington book plus carved walking sticks in 2004
Spent over $2100 in 2008 for landscaping and replacing plants
Purchased about $600 worth of supplies and books for the local history room
Paid $1684 in 2005 for membership to various museums and attractions
